The season finale of the 2025 Formula 1 season is here, and it could be one for the ages, with Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri all heading into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a chance of winning the title.

15:47 CET - And that's a wrap on the 2025 Formula 1 season!

After a few slightly tamer years largely dominated by Verstappen, it was exactly what the sport needed, with the combined might of the McLaren drivers ending the Dutchman's reign of terror in a titanic battle.

He'll be looking to make amends and grab title number five next season, but with new regulations coming into play, he could have a number of new competitors to battle at the very front.

Thanks for joining us today and be sure to keep an eye on Flashscore for all the reaction to the race and the season, and all the build-up to 2026!

15:39 CET - Today's top 10: Verstappen, Piastri, Norris, Leclerc, Russell, Alonso, Ocon, Hamilton, Bearman, Hulkenberg.

15:35 CET - Wow. What a drive from Norris that was.

He so easily could have crumbled under the immense pressure that was on him when he was passed by Piastri at the start, but he didn't put a foot wrong after that to get the job done.

He finishes the season just two points ahead of Verstappen. What a battle.

Lap 58 - LANDO NORRIS IS A FORMULA 1 WORLD CHAMPION!

Lap 55 - Three laps to go. Lando Norris is about to become a Formula 1 world champion.

Lap 52 - With six laps to go, things are looking very good for Norris. Leclerc isn't going quick enough to really put the McLaren under pressure.

Up ahead, Piastri doesn't have the pace to really challenge Verstappen for the win.

Lap 46 - Verstappen could pit now, come out ahead of Piastri and back both McLarens up into Leclerc, but it looks like he's just focusing on winning the race.

Lap 44 - This title could well be decided by Leclerc, who is just over four seconds behind Norris and closing that gap.

However, McLaren do have a backup plan of ordering Piastri to let Norris through.

Lap 42 - Piastri now comes in and rejoins comfortably ahead of Norris. With fresh tyres and 16 laps to go, he has to close down a 24-second gap to Verstappen.

Lap 41 - Leclerc pits and Norris follows! Both are back out on fresh hards in P3 and P5.

Lap 38 - With 20 laps to go, Norris is in a good position. He's six seconds clear of Leclerc, will move up to P2 once Piastri pits and can even afford to lose that place to the Aussie, who will be rapid on fresh tyres.

Lap 32 - After pitting early for hards, Hamilton has come in for another set of tyres. That suggests Norris and Leclerc will have to do the same...

Lap 30 - In more good news for Norris, the stewards have handed Tsunoda a five-second penalty and given him the all clear. It's looking good for the Brit right now.

Lap 29 - Piastri is staying out longer, meaning he'll come out behind Norris after he pits. Are McLaren doing that to gain Norris a place on his teammate, or is it the Brit going to pit again?

Lap 28 - Norris is being investigated for passing Tsunoda off track, while Tsunoda is being investigated for forcing him off.

If the Brit gets a five-second penalty, that could well cost him P3 and the title, but it would be a very harsh penalty given Tsunoda was defending extremely dangerously...

Lap 25 - Verstappen pits and rejoins five seconds ahead of Norris.

Lap 23 - It won't! Norris passes the Red Bull man with ease, although he did go wide to do so after being forced off track. Will the stewards look at that?

Lap 22 - The second Red Bull of Sergio Perez holding up Lewis Hamilton at this circuit in 2021 played a huge part in Verstappen winning that title fight. Will history repeat itself?

Lap 21 - Next up for Norris is the other Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda, whose team will be telling him to hold up the Brit as much as he can to help out teammate Verstappen.

Lap 19 - Norris is flying through the traffic! He's cleared Antonelli, Sainz, Stoll and Lawson already. That's crucial.

Lap 16 - Norris pits! He and Leclerc both come in and both rejoin ahead of Russell but behind the other Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli, who has yet to come in but could hold them up.

Lap 15 - Russell is the first of the frontrunners to pit, with the Mercedes man putting on fresh hards and looking to pull off the undercut on Leclerc and maybe even Norris.

Lap 12 - Norris has got Leclerc out of DRS range but is now saying his tyres are beginning to grain. We're approaching the pit window for those who started on mediums.

Lap 10 - Verstappen is leading Piastri by two seconds at the front of the field, but McLaren think the Dutchman's tyres are starting to drop off.

Lap 7 - The championship leader has been told to push harder and worry less about managing his tyres to try and get Leclerc out of his DRS range.

Behind them, Russell has passed Alonso and is closing in.

Lap 5 - Things aren't looking great for Norris right now, with the Ferrari of Leclerc now all over him.

If the Brit loses one more spot, Verstappen will be the provisional world champion...

Lap 2 - Piastri is the only driver of the top three on the hard tyre rather than mediums, meaning he'll be going longer on this slightly slower tyre but will have more pace in the closing stages.

So, if he can stay ahead of Norris even before then, things will be looking very good for him.

Lap 1 - PIASTRI OVERTAKES NORRIS! The Aussie flies around his teammate on the outside to take second!

Lap 1 - And we're off! The top three all get away well and hold position, while Russell has dropped back behind Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso!

14:01 CET - The formation lap is underway. Here we go...

13:50 CET - Speaking to Sky Sports, McLaren CEO Zak Brown has just said the team will issue team orders if one of their drivers has a significantly better chance of winning the title than the other late in the race.

The most likely scenario is Piastri being ahead of Norris and being told to let him pass, but will the Aussie do so if his own title chances are still alive?

And what tactics will Max Verstappen employ? Expect him to try and pull away from his rivals early on, but if Norris is inside the top three in the closing stages, the Dutchman could slow down to try and back his rival up into the clutches of other drivers, as Lewis Hamilton did with Nico Rosberg in 2016.

13:46 CET - We've had the national anthem, and the drivers are now doing their final preparations before getting into their cars one last time in 2025.

13:35 CET - We couldn't have asked for a better starting grid, with Norris joining Verstappen on the front row and Piastri beginning in third.

Alongside the Aussie is the Mercedes of George Russell, who would yet play a big part in the title fight given he's had the pace to fight the three contenders all weekend.

Verstappen's job has been made harder by the fact that he doesn't have a teammate in particularly close quarters, with the second Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda down in 10th.

This is the full grid:

13:27 CET - So, with just over 30 minutes to go until lights out, let's take a look at how things stand.

McLaren man Norris heads into the race with a 12-point lead over reigning champion Verstappen in the championship, with the second McLaren of Piastri a further four points back.

What does that mean? Well, in simple terms, Norris will become a world champion if he finishes in the top three, regardless of what his rivals do.

However, the Brit can't afford to finish any lower than that if Verstappen wins the race, which is a distinct possibility given the Dutchman starts on pole.
