The lanky striker had gone on a run of 21 games without finding success in front of goal for the Saints. However, he ended his wait against the in-form Reds.
With the hosts three goals up courtesy of first-half goals from Elliot Anderson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood, Onuachu was thrown into the fray by manager Ivan Juric.
The 30-year did not disappoint as he scored Southampton’s second goal at the death after heading home a well-taken corner kick by Mateus Fernandes.
Interestingly, Onuachu’s international teammate Ola Aina provided the assist for Forest’s Wood for his 14th goal of the 2024-25 campaign.
In another English top-flight outing, Yankuba Minteh scored a goal and provided an assist as Brighton and Hove Albion stunned Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford.

On the half-hour mark, Gueye set up his compatriot for the second goal of the day before Archie Gray’s own goal helped them extend their lead in the goal-laden first half.
Despite a late rally from Spurs, they were unable to bounce back as they returned to London with heads bowed low.

The DR Congo international put in a fine shift with two well-taken first-half goals as Bremen’s five-match unbeaten run at the Weserstadion came to a halt.
The hosts were denied by the offside flag twice, with both Anthony Jung and Jens Stage’s efforts to convert Marvin Ducksch’s service retroactively disallowed.
On the other side, Augsburg’s Kristijan Jakic was lucky not to have been given the marching orders when a VAR review saw no contact as Marvin Ducksch went down when through on goal.
In another fixture, Mohamed Amoura bagged a brace in Wolfsburg’s 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Heading to Allianz Arena, the Wolves had gone on a two-match winning streak in the German elite division, however, they could not stop the Bavarians from sealing all points.

Moses Simon scored his fifth goal of the season in Nantes’ 1-1 draw at St. Etienne.
Both teams went to Stade Geoffrey-Guichard in dire need of a win to move away from the relegation waters, but it was the visitors who took the lead after 15 minutes courtesy of their Nigerian import.
The Super Eagle finished off a brilliant solo run with a forceful left-footed strike at the near post in the top-left corner.
Despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession, Erik Horneland’s side found it challenging to penetrate Nantes’ resilient backline, with the Greens unable to produce a single shot on target during the first half.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Ghana midfielder Augustine Boakye equalised for St. Etienne as the encounter ended on a no winner, no vanquished note.
