The Clemson Tigers fired defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin (40) on Sunday.

Goodwin, who was still under contract after the team extended him in February 2024 and spent the past three seasons at Clemson, is set to make $1.5 million in 2025 and $1.6 million in 2026.

"Wes has been a part of our program for 13 of the past 16 years, and he played an instrumental part in all of our success," said head coach Dabo Swinney in a statement Monday. "I love Wes and his family and wish him all the best as he continues his journey. I know he has a bright future ahead."

Clemson's defence ranked 69th out of the 82 Power Five schools this past season. Their 160.6 rushing yards given up per game was the worst in franchise history since 2011.

The 1-04 Tigers eventually lost to Texas in the first round of the College Football Playoffs after winning the ACC title against SMU.
