Detroit Lions defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike has officially been ruled out for the upcoming 2025 season, according to head coach Dan Campbell.

Onwuzurike played in all 16 games (10 starts) for the Lions last season, accounting for 28 tackles, 13 quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

The 27-year-old also missed the entire 2022 season with a back injury.

Onwuzurike was selected by the Lions with the 41st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In 42 total games, the lineman has racked up 68 total tackles with 3.5 sacks.

The opportunity is now bigger than ever for 2025 first-round pick Tyleik Williams, who will now be leaned on heavily throughout the season with Onwuzurike, along with fellow rookie Ahmed Hassanein and veterans Brodric Martin and D.J. Reader.
