The Philadelphia Eagles won their second-ever Super Bowl after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on Sunday night thanks to a dominating defensive performance.

Philly got revenge on the Chiefs as they denied Kansas City their possible historic three-peat.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 221 yards on 17 of 21 passing while rushing for 72 yards. Hurts also put up three total touchdowns (one rushing, two passing) and an interception.

Star running back Saquon Barkley was held to just 57 yards on the ground without a single touchdown. However, he now owns the record for most rushing yards (regular season and postseason combined) in a single season by any runningback in NFL history.

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith led the Eagles with 69 receiving yards while he and teammate A.J. Brown both had a touchdown.

On the losing side, quarterback Patrick Mahomes had just 257 passing yards with three touchdowns and two costly interceptions.

The Chiefs only had 49 rushing yards the entire game while Xavier Worthy led them in receiving with 157 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles put up a total of 345 yards on offence while the Chiefs only put up 275. Philly's defence combined for a total of six sacks, two interceptions with one for a touchdown, and a forced fumble.

The game finished with 15 penalties (7-Kansas City, 8-Philadelphia).

Super Bowl LIX highlights

Cooper DeJean recorded his first-ever interception with a pick-six against Mahomes to give the Eagles a 17-0 lead.

Eagles linebacker then picked off Mahomes for his second interception which ultimately led to a simple touchdown pass from Hurts to A.J. Brown to take a commanding 24-0 lead.

While it may not have been for much, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, in his first-ever Super Bowl appearance as one of the league's most respected veterans, still managed to get a touchdown.

And after what was a horrible season for the veteran kicker, Jake Elliott was perfect tonight for the Eagles hitting two 48-yard field goals, a chip shot, and his final one for 50 yards en route to the Eagles win.
