The Seattle Mariners and infielder Jorge Polanco (31) agreed to a one-year, $7.75 million deal on Thursday, according to multiple MLB insiders.

The deal has a base salary of $7 million with the rest as a $750,000 buyout on a mutual option for 2026 that's based on plate appearances. According to MLB inside Mark Feinsand, the Mariners plan to play Polanco at third base.

Polanco was acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Twins ahead of last season, in which he set career lows in batting average (.213), on-base percentage (.296), slugging percentage (.355), and OPS (.651).

Polanco also had 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 118 games last season for the Mariners. His 137 strikeouts set a career high as well with the previous high at 118 in 2021.

The former 2019 All-Star will be entering his 12th year this upcoming season, his second with the Mariners. He spent the previous 10 with the Twins after making his major league debut in 2014.

The team also signed long-time relief pitcher Neftali Feliz (36) to a minor league contract. Feliz hasn't pitched a full season in the majors since 2017.

Seattle finished second in the American League West division with an 85-77 record, just barely missing out on a Wild Card spot.
