If Fried passes his physical, his contract will be the highest guarantee in baseball history for a left-handed pitcher. According to insider Ken Rosenthal, Fried will make an annual average of $27.25 million per season.
The former Atlanta Braves starting pitcher will be joining a World Series rotation with the likes of Gerrit Cole and AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil.
Fried had a stellar season for the Braves this year with a 3.25 ERA, giving up 146 hits in 174.1 innings pitched. His 166 strikeouts came up just short of his 173 career high, but his 57 walks were the most he's thrown in a season.
The southpaw has a lifetime 3.07 ERA, three Gold Gloves, two All-Star appearances, two NL Cy Young finalist bids, and even a Silver Slugger award in 2021.
Fried has spent all eight years of his career with the Braves and now he'll look to spend the next eight with the defending American League champions.
