The former 2022 43rd overall pick out of Michigan is in his first season with the Hornets after signing a two-way contract last July.
“I was so mad, like, when they called my name, because to be honest, I genuinely didn’t think that I was getting drafted that low,” said Diabate during an interview on The Only Child by AA podcast.
“I still care a little bit. I’ll be lying if I said I didn’t, but it’s more like motivation…That was definitely not one of my best days…maybe that’s gonna work out for the best.”
Diabate is averaging 4.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season for the Hornets. No monetary details on the contract have been released at this time.
“Moussa has done a nice job in taking advantage of the minutes he’s earned at this point,” said Peterson during a press conference in January after trading forward Nick Richards to the Phoenix Suns.
