Lillard was waived by the Bucks on Tuesday, who will also stretch the remaining $113 million on his contract - meaning he can sign with a contender for little money while still being paid handsomely by the Bucks. However, the Bucks will be able to "stretch" that money from two years to five.
The nine-time All-Star tore his Achilles during Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Playoffs in a matchup against the Indiana Pacers, making it more than likely that he'll miss the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
Lillard was originally acquired by the Bucks in 2023 as part of a three-team deal involving the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns. The next two seasons, Lillard would go on to average 24.6 points and 7.0 assists a Bucks team that would lose in the first round of the NBA playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
Shortly after waiving Lillard, the Bucks signed former Pacers centre Myles Turner to a four-year deal worth $107 million. Turner, a two-time blocking champion, was the longest-tenured (10 years) player on the Pacers before reaching a deal with Milwaukee.
Other free agents the Bucks have signed include Jericho Sims (two years), Gary Harris (two years), Gary Trent Jr. (two years, $7.5 million), Taurean Prince (two years, $7.1 million), and Kevin Porter Jr. (two years, $11 million).
Meanwhile, the Warriors have been quiet as they have yet to sign a free agent.
