Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley is reportedly under investigation by the U.S. District Attorney's office for allegedly placing bets on games.

The allegations, including prop bets, stem from Beasley's time on the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023-2024 season, not this past year while on the Pistons.

An unnamed U.S. sportsbook noted that heavy betting interests on Beasley's stats spiked in January 2024.

"An investigation is not a charge," Beasley's attorney Steve Haney told multiple outlets. "Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything."

Beasley and the Pistons were also reportedly in talks on a possible three-year extension after the guard posted 16.3 points per game this past season, helping Detroit to their best season in a decade. Now, those talks are currently on hold due to the investigation.

The nine-year veteran could have just played his last season in the NBA. In 2024, Jontay Porter of the Toronto Raptors received a lifetime ban from the league after an investigation found that he bet on games and tipped off bettors.

This hasn't been the first time Beasley has run into trouble. He was previously arrested in 2021 and served a 120-day jail sentence after the 2020-2021 season on two counts - felony threats of violence and felony drug possession - after threatening a family with a gun.

More is still to come as the investigation continues.
