#8 Michigan State defeated #16 Maryland 58-55 on Wednesday thanks to Tre Holloman's (21) halfcourt game-winner right at the buzzer.

Maryland guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie failed to hit a three-pointer to take the lead with just three seconds left prior to Michigan State grabbing the rebound which led to Holloman launching a prayer.

The game-winner was Holloman's only made three (1-4) of the night in which he led all Michigan State bench players with nine total points.

Michigan advances to 23-5 (14-3 conference) after holding down the Big 10 conference's top-ranked scoring team that averages 83.7 points per game to just 55 points on a brutal 31.3 percent shooting (15-48).

Maryland falls to 21-7 (11-6 conference) despite Rodney Rice's 20-point game and Derik Queen's 10-10 double-double.

Michigan State didn't shoot much better, putting up just a 33.8 shooting percentage (22-65) with only Jase Richardson reaching double-digit points (15).

Maryland will head to Penn State on March 1st for their next game while Michigan State will head back home for their game on March 2nd for another conference matchup against 11th-ranked Wisconsin.
