Dortmund entered the contest without a permanent head coach after the club’s hierarchy lost patience with Nuri Şahin following a run of four consecutive defeats, leaving Tullberg to step up from his role as the under-19 boss.
His interim tenure could not have got off to a worse start, however, as Nico Schlotterbeck was given his marching orders before the half’s midway point. The defender received his third Bundesliga red card after it was ruled that he had denied Marvin Ducksch a clear goalscoring opportunity, leaving his teammates with an uphill task for the remainder of the contest.

Fortunately for Schlotterback, his colleagues appeared more than up for the challenge, taking the lead through Serhou Guirassy just shy of the half-hour mark. The Dortmund marksman nodded home with the aid of the crossbar after Julian Brandt steered the ball across goal from Julian Ryerson’s deep cross for just his second Bundesliga strike since November.
Guirassy went on to play a key role in doubling his side’s advantage in the opening stages of the second period. The striker pulled off to the back post to meet Pascal Groß’ cross, sending his cushioned effort towards the far post before it deflected off Marco Friedl and into the net.
Despite having a numerical advantage, Bremen appeared to be out of ideas until substitute Leonardo Bittencourt produced a moment of magic just after the hour-mark, thumping a first-time shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

With momentum on their side, Dortmund-born Marvin Ducksch swiftly restored parity for Ole Werner’s men, guiding the ball in at the near post to score his first goal against Die Schwarzgelben.
The hosts ultimately had to survive more Bremen pressure to even hold out for a draw, leaving them in 10th place and one point adrift of their visitors, who themselves are winless in four league matches in 2025.
