The Cleveland Guardians clinched the American League Central division after the Detroit Tigers lost to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

Cleveland were 15.5 games back of the American League Central lead, once held by the Tigers, and have now completed the greatest comeback in MLB history.

The previous record (15) was set in 1914 by the Atlanta Braves and replicated in 1978 by the New York Yankees.

The Guardians clinched their MLB Postseason spot on Saturday with a walk-off hit-by-pitch.

Texas Rangers pitcher Robert Garcia beamed C. J. Kayfus in the bottom of the ninth inning to send Cleveland to the playoffs.

At the start of September, the Guardians were given just a 2.2% percent chance of making the postseason. Now, it's 100% with a division crown to boot.

Heading into the final game of the season, superstar Jose Ramirez led the team with 30 home runs, 85 RBI, 103 runs, 41 stolen bases, 32 doubles, three triples, 66 walks, a .282 batting average, and a .863 OPS.

Only left field Steven Kwan led Ramirez in one stat - hits (169).

Starting pitchers Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee led the team with 12 wins each. Williams led the team with 173 strikeouts and earned run average (3.06) among starters.

Cade Smith became the new closer after Emmanuel Clase's gambling situation and put up a total of 16 saves with a 2.93 ERA.

Cleveland's rotation ranked ninth-best in the league with a 3.76 ERA while their bullpen ranked 10th with a 3.33.

The Guardians are the only team in the 2025 MLB Postseason with a negative run differential.
