A fight at Wembley, starring Oleksandr Usyk, is always a huge event. And Daniel Dubois is a formidable challenger, even if the Ukrainian defeated him almost two years ago, having infamously received a low blow that took almost four minutes to recover from.
KO guaranteed... but on which side?
Currently considered the number two heavyweight in the world by Boxrec, "Dynamite" Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua in five rounds last September. Since then, Dubois became the interim IBF world champion after knocking out Filip Hrgovic in Riyadh just over a year ago.
Dubois (22-2-0) is almost guaranteed a knockout. Only American Kevin Johnson has managed to take the Englishman the distance so far. His two defeats were also by KO, against Joe Joyce in 2020 and then against Usyk.
With a last-minute withdrawal in February when he was due to face Joseph Parker, Dubois faces a huge challenge: to topple the unbeaten Usyk (23-0-0), pull off a phenomenal upset and become the second heavyweight to unify all four major belts alongside the Ukrainian.
Eleven years younger than Usyk, Dubois has improved and returns to fight the champion with the desire to demonstrate his progress.
But does he have enough experience against the best? He hasn't faced Fury, Parker or Martin Bakolé.
The win over Joshua is perhaps the only major scalp for Dubois so far.
In any case, Canelo Álvarez has made no secret of his favourite: he has bet $500,000 on a Usyk win.
"He's going to lose money," said Dubois. I'm focused, I know what I have to do. I'm a young lion and I have to take the reins and be a man.
Egis Klimas, Usyk's manager, said: "How much can someone change in two years? He knows he can hurt Oleksandr and has already done so, beating world-class boxers.
Despite the huge task in front of him, Dubois presented himself as a conqueror, convinced that he could make history: "I've gained a lot of confidence thanks to my training, my performances in the gym, the blows I've landed on people in sparring.
"All that's inside me and I'm ready to let it out now. I'm ready to overcome whatever it takes to get these belts. I'm chasing glory and excellence.
"I absolutely have to demolish everything. They have a script, but I'm going to write my own."
Dubois and Usyk clash on Saturday, July 19th at Wembley Stadium.
