Luke Humphries (29) beat Luke Littler (17) 11-7 to retain his Players Championship Finals crown in Minehead on Sunday.

It was a well-fought battle between the two Englishmen, which lasted a touch over 41 minutes.

But it was also a comprehensive victory for 'Cool Hand' Luke, who never found himself in a losing position against Littler.

Humphries stormed to a 5-1 lead, but 'The Nuke' kept things competitive to pull back 6-5.

The duo then went blow-for-blow until Humphries stringed together the final three rounds for an 11-7 win.

It is the world number one's seventh major title.

Speaking after his victory, Humphries said: "I'm really proud because I didn't feel myself this week playing-wise.

"There's something Luke does to you, he really drives me and makes me want to be a better player. I enjoy playing him."

"These big games are what I live for, being a major champion is what I do it all for," Humphries added.

"If you go by stats, Luke is easily the best player in the world... but there's something about me that never gives up.

"He's made me a bit hungrier, practice more, try a bit harder... because if no one sticks with him, he's going to win everything. I believe we are the two best players in the world."
