The Detroit Tigers clinched their MLB Postseason spot for the second straight year after their 2-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

Should the Cleveland Guardians lose either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, the Tigers can clinch the American League Central division title if they also win on Sunday - Guardians own the tiebreaker.

But if the Guardians lose both games, the Tigers win the Central regardless of the outcome of their final game against the Red Sox.

After going down 1-0 in the second inning, the Tigers rebounded in the fifth with a two-run single from Jahmai Jones

The 28-year-old leadoff hitter was the only one in the Tigers lineup on Saturday to record multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBI.

It was all that was needed as the Tigers' bullpen threw a combined 4.2 innings of shutout baseball.

Relief pitcher Tyler Holton earned his sixth win of the season, while closer Will Vest earned his 23rd save.

Detroit (87-74) will either finish the season 88-74 or 87-75, depending on their performance come Sunday. It'll be just the third time in the past decade that the Tigers finish a season with at least 85 wins.

As for the Red Sox (88-73), who recently punched their ticket into the MLB Postseason, they can clinch the No. 5 seed in the AL should the Guardians lose on Saturday evening.
