The first round of the Dutch KNVB Beker kicked off Tuesday with nine games. Flashscore takes you through Tuesday's slate of Dutch cup games.

Excelsior '31 - ADO Den Haag: 1-1 (6-5 after penalties)

Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag were stumped by fourth-tier amateurs Excelsior '31, who reached the second round of the Dutch Cup on penalties.

ADO, who started with a B side, struggled in the first half and conceded the first goal of the cup season on the cusp of half-time, with Mika Schrijver flying high to head Excelsior '31 in front. Nigel Thomas put ADO back alongside the amateurs midway through the second half with a deflected shot, forcing extra time.

With no breakthrough in the added 30 minutes, penalties were necessary to determine a winner. Alex de Jong wildly fired the ball wide for Excelsior '31, but was saved by his goalkeeper, Kevin Remmink, who stopped Daryl van Mieghem's spot-kick. ADO's Juho Kilo was next to miss, but Schrijver kept ADO alive, firing his penalty wide as well.

Eventually, ADO's Sekou Sylla missed the decisive penalty in sudden death, with his spot-kick flying over Remmink's bar and securing Excelsior '31 a spot in the second round for the first time since 2013.

BVV Barendrecht - RKC Waalwijk: 2-2 (1-4 after penalties)

Second-tier RKC Waalwijk prevented a similar cup disaster to that of ADO Den Haag, knocking third-tier amateurs BVV Barendrecht out after penalties.

The uneventful first half was followed up with a more equal second half, that saw Ryan Fage put RKC in the lead with 23 minutes remaining. It wasn't enough to win it in regular time for RKC, as Aness Serghini forced extra time in the final ten minutes. Seven minutes into extra time, RKC restored the lead via Jesper van de Haar, but the former Eredivisie side couldn't hold on to the lead again, with Timo de Graaf making De Bongerd explode with a 115th-minute equaliser.

During the penalty shootout, RKC taught Barendrecht a lesson in ruthlessness as the amateurs pissed penalty after penalty and handing RKC a 3-0 lead. Bradley van der Meer saved some grace for the hosts, but Loek Postma scored RKC's fourth and final to seal a second-round ticket.

FC Eindhoven - FC Volendam: 5-3

In one of two eight-goal thrillers on Tuesday evening, FC Eindhoven knocked out fellow second-tier side FC Volendam with a 5-3 home win.

Siegert Baartmans and Vicente Besuijen put Eindhoven on roses by giving them a two-goal lead within 30 minutes, but FC Volendam, who haven't won an away game all season, erased the hosts' lead in no time via Reuven Niemeijer.

The highlight of Tuesday's KNVB Beker games came early in the second half - Rayan Buifrahl got the ball on his own half, spotted Volendam goalkeeper Roy Steur off his line and tried his luck from the halfway line for a world-class goal.

After Baartmans scored his second, Mohammed Belfiqh made it 4-3 with 20 minutes to go, but Volendam's Jair Haakmat squashed any hopes of a comeback by fumbling the ball into his own net to make it 5-3 to FC Eindhoven.

Rijnsburgse Boys - FC Den Bosch: 3-5

The amateurs of Rijnsburgse Boys were close to shocking FC Den Bosch, but the second-tier professionals came back to close the job: 5-3.

Rijnsburgse Boys led early, scoring the opener in the 14th minute when Kyan Lever tapped it into an empty net, and held on to the lead for the vast majority of the opening half, until Jack de Vries scored the equaliser shortly before half-time with a fantastic solo.

The goal didn't deflate the hosts, who restored the lead via Jeffrey Buitenweg. The game went up and down and saw FC Den Bosch come back once more, with Lorenzo Hoffman erasing Buitenweg's goal five minutes later and Randy Wolters earning his team the first lead of the evening. Chachine van Beemen equalised once again, but it were Den Bosch who secured the win in the final stages, with Jeffrey Fortes and Devon De Corte sealing the deal.

Other results

Elsewhere, Willem II survived a late red card in a 4-3 win over Helmond Sport, thanks in part to a spectacular bicycle kick from striker Devin Haen, who equalised in the 28th minute. Eser Gurbuz added a first-half brace, making it a mountain to climb for Helmond Sport. After Tonny Vilhena's 4-0, Labinot Bajrami sparked a brief comeback, followed by a reckless red card for Jaden Slory. Bajrami's second goal made for a spectacular last 10 minutes, but after missing several big chances, Helmond Sport were knocked out of the cup.

Third-tier VV Kloetinge hoped to upset SC Cambuur at home, but the amateurs suffered a quick goal as Sami Bouhoudane scored in the opening minute, 15 minutes before Steve Schalkwijk let his team down after receiving a red card for headbutting his opponent. Kloetinge kept the one-goal deficit, and thus the hopes of a comeback, alive for long, but Bouhoudane's second goal in injury time killed off all hope in Zeeland as the Eredivisie side won 2-0.

In Kerkrade, Roda JC outlasted Keuken Kampioen Divisie rival De Graafschap in a 1-0 win, courtesy of a late goal from Makrane Bentoumi.

Eredivisie side Telstar were eliminated from the KNVB Beker by former Eredivisie outfit Almere City, who won 2-0 on a cold evening in Velsen-Zuid. Teun Bijleveld opened the scoring after an hour's play, and Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp sealed the win twenty minutes later after Telstar's inefficient display.

Third-tier amateurs Koninklijke HFC, three-time Dutch Cup winners, suffered a heavy loss to 2025 winners Go Ahead Eagles, who beat the Haarlem side 5-0. Melle Meulensteen and Oskar Sivertsen gave the Eagles a two-goal lead at half-time, while Thibo Baeten, Joris Kramer, and Tomas Galvez made the difference in the second half.
