The two-time All-Star shortstop stole third in the top of the third inning to mark the first 30-30 season of his already illustrious career. Now, he joins Eric Davis (1987), Barry Larkin (1996), and Brandon Phillips (2007) as part of Reds history.
De La Cruz, 24, led MLB with 67 steals two years ago before posting 37 last year. However, he never reached 30 home runs (25 in 2024, 22 in 2025) until this year.
He now also joins National League MVP favorite and Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Washington Nationals' young star C.J. Abrams as the only three players to post 30-30 this season.
The four-year star is in the midst of a career year. Heading into Friday's action, De La Cruz was hitting a career-best .285 batting average with a stellar .888 OPS.
He's now also made it three straight seasons with at least 30 doubles and needs five more total bases to surpass his career high of 291 (2024) with two more games remaining after Friday.
The Reds currently sit with a 74-85 record and are looking at finishing with their third losing season in the past five years.
