According to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, Wellenreuther is set to join Wolfsburg for €1 million and on a 3-year contract.
Wellenreuther, 30, joined Feyenoord from Anderlecht in 2023 and has played 125 total games for the Rotterdam club. Wellenreuther was named first-team captain by former manager Robin van Persie in 2025, taking the armband from Sem Steijn.
Replacement ready
Feyenoord, now led by a management tandem of general manager Robert Eenhoorn and technical director Devy Rigaux, are set to replace Wellenreuther, with 23-year-old Hertha BSC goalkeeper Tjark Ernst joining the Rotterdam outfit on short notice.
Feyenoord activated Ernst's €5 million release clause on Monday, per Plettenberg. Ernst is set to have his medical tests later this week.
The 23-year-old German joined Hertha BSC from VfL Bochum in 2023 and has played 93 games for the second-tier side.
