Uruguay keeper Fernando Muslera fails to deal with the corner, and his fumble is tapped home by Abdulelah Al Amri on the rebound.

23:39 BST - Uruguay have had 78 per cent possession over the last 15 minutes.

They've forced a few good saves out of Saudi keeper Mohammed Al Owais, but the score remains 0-0 as we approach half-time.

23:04 BST - We are underway between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay!

22:29 BST - Up next, it's Saudi Arabia against two-time winners Uruguay, with kickoff in around half an hour.

22:26 BST - Egypt's Hamza Abdelkarim to reporters: "It was a good game for the whole team.

"The whole team wanted the three points; we got one point in the end, but we gave it our all. We need to thank the fans that came; the atmosphere was great. We focus now on the next match."

22:07 BST - Despite a battling performance, Egypt weren’t able to win their first-ever FIFA World Cup match at Seattle Stadium, drawing 1-1 with Belgium in an intense Group G encounter.

22:00 BST - Both sides will likely be happy to settle for the point there, although it was the Belgians who generally dominated the momentum:

21:52 BST - We will have a minimum of five minutes added on.

21:49 BST - BIG CHANCE! Romelu Lukaku glances his header over after a sumptuous delivery.

21:46 BST - Egypt goalkeeper Oufa Shobeir makes a great save to keep out a close-range header from Belgium's Brandon Mechele. Still 1-1, but the game is getting stretched as we enter the final five minutes.

21:32 BST - Belgium have ended a run of 325 minutes without a goal in the FIFA World Cup, their longest since going 244 minutes without scoring between the 1982 and 1986 editions.

21:29 BST - It has indeed gone down as an own goal from Mohamed Hany.

21:28 BST - GOAL! A mere 15 seconds later, Romelu Lukaku taps home his 91st goal for Belgium to make it 1-1.

Super sub! It looks like it could be an own goal.

21:28 BST - Big man Romelu Lukaku is on for the Belgians with 25 minutes remaining.

21:25 BST - Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne both go close to finding a leveller, but to no avail.

The Belgians are beginning to look like a threat in this second half.

21:18 BST - Oof, close one. Belgium keeper Thibault Courtois can only parry away a close-range header, but Emam Ashour blasts well wide.

Let off for Belgium.

21:07 BST - The second half is up and running.

20:50 BST - HALF-TIME! Belgium 0-1 Egypt

That was the Belgian's best chance of the match so far.

20:46 BST - Four minutes will be added on.

20:30 BST - The Belgians are really struggling to get into the game and are yet to threaten their opponents' goal.

20:19 BST - GOAL! Egypt take the lead!

It's been a positive start from both sides, but the Egyptians strike first.

Emam Ashour picks up the ball from Mo Salah on the edge of the box and curls the ball into the corner of the net to score his first international goal in style.

20:00 BST - We're underway in Seattle.

19:39 BST - Belgium are gearing up for their 15th appearance at the finals, the most of any European nation never to win the trophy.

Meanwhile, Egypt have never won a match at the tournament.

19:26 BST - On to the next one then!

Some big names on both sides as Belgium take on Egypt in Seattle to open the action in Group G. Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

19:12 BST - Cabo Verde's 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha is the oldest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet on his FIFA World Cup debut, making seven saves against Spain.

19:05 BST - Cape Verde got their debut FIFA World Cup campaign off to a remarkable start, holding Spain to a 0-0 draw that sets the stage for an intriguing Group H.

19:02 BST - They were under immense pressure for the duration, but Cape Verde's defensive display more than deserved something out of that.

19:01 BST - The tiny island nation of about 500,000 people should be so proud of their team's performance.

What an amazing World Cup moment!

18:55 BST - Spain force a corner in the final 30 seconds...

18:52 BST - Five minutes of added time will be played.

18:51 BST - BIG CHANCE! Cape Verde counter in the 89th minute, and you can feel the whole world egging them on (other than the Spaniards).

They go so close from the corner too, but it's straight at the keeper. Wow!

18:46 BST - A little over five minutes of normal time remain.

Smacks of late heartbreak for Cape Verde, or will they hold on?

18:40 BST - Lamine Yamal is the youngest European player to appear at two major tournaments, aged 18 years and 337 days.

18:31 BST - Still 0-0 after 70 minutes, so Spain turn to Lamine Yamal and Mikel Merino.

18:06 BST - The second half is underway.

18:03 BST - Spain have been pressing so much, every outfield player has spent nearly the whole first 45 minutes in Cape Verde's half.

17:46 BST - We have four minutes added time.

Vozinha has made another couple of saves and seems to be having the game of his life.

17:41 BST - OFF THE BAR! Marc Cucurella heads a fine ball across the box, but Mikel Oyarzabal fluffs his lines and heads onto the bar from a few yards away.

Ferran Torres then forces a great save from Vozinha in the Cape Verde goal in the follow-up play.

Spain are starting to squeeze this now.

17:38 BST - Pedri forces a fine save from the Cape Verde keeper before the offside flag goes up.

Moments before, Livramento tried an audacious effort from his own half. It was on, but ends up nowhere near.

17:22 BST - Cape Verde have survived the first 20 minutes.

Spain have more than 70% of the ball but haven't done much with it, and Cape Verde have been more than happy to sit in and counter.

17:06 BST - It's a ranking mismatch on paper with Spain the world's second-best team and Cape Verde 67th.

But as we all know, the game isn't played on paper, and literally anything can happen.

17:01 BST - KICK-OFF! Game on in Atlanta as Spain get the ball rolling - follow Spain v Cape Verde here

16:53 BST - The Spain and Cape Verde players are out in the Atlanta cauldron.

Cape Verde's anthem is moments away from being played at a World Cup for the first time ever.

16:37 BST - The magnificent Atlanta Stadium is the host of today's game, providing a stunning setting for a curious encounter.

Opened in 2017, the 71,000-capacity arena features a retractable roof and will host the second World Cup semi-final.

16:02 BST - Starting in central defence for Cape Verde is Dublin-born Roberto Lopes, who plays his club football for Shamrock Rovers.

The 33-year-old is a former bank worker and was contacted via LinkedIn by Cape Verde's then-coach Rui Aguas as part of a recruitment drive after discovering Lopes' father was from the nation.

15:40 BST - Let's get the ball rolling on today's World Cup action, starting with the lineups for Spain versus Cape Verde in Atlanta.

As expected, Lamine Yamal starts on the bench for Spain as he eases his way back from injury.

14:00 BST - Much has been made of the fitness of Spain superstar Lamine Yamal, who has not played since late April after suffering a hamstring injury.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed the Barcelona winger is in "perfect condition" to feature, but will have to settle for a spot on the bench to begin with.

13:15 BST - Looking forward to this evening's action, European champions Spain kick off their tournament against World Cup newcomers Cape Verde in Atlanta.

La Roja were world champions in 2010, but have disappointed in the last three tournaments with a group-stage exit in 2014 and making the last 16 twice.

But Cape Verde will be out to stage a seismic upset, having reached the finals for the very first time after topping their African qualifying group.
