15:00 BST - That's all from the Three Lions squad announcement today, but you can stay across Flashscore for all the latest World Cup news.

14:15 BST - Ivan Toney is back in the fold after nearly 12 months since his last England appearance, which was under Thomas Tuchel in a friendly defeat against Senegal last June.

But he has been in serious form for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, this season scoring 42 goals in 49 games in all competitions.

And with penalty prowess – seen in Euro 2024 – there is method to the 30-year-old's selection, even with Harry Kane not expected to be unseated.

12:36 BST - There are 16 different clubs represented in England's 2026 World Cup squad, the second most for any major tournament after the 1962 World Cup (17), but none are from Liverpool.

Twenty-two players in Tuchel's squad have won a trophy with their club since the start of last season.

12:25 BST - There were several big selection calls, here's what Tuchel had to say about them.

On John Stones:

"He is still on the highest level when I see him play, when I see him move. We analysed a lot of his training data because I get your question, there is not a lot of proof in the last half of the season unfortunately. The good news is he was available. He was not out, he was available. The bad news was he wasn’t selected as much as we all hoped for.

"But I think we can advantage to our late start in the tournament in this case. We still have over four weeks until our first match. We will reconnect with our principles. We have the chance to let him play two friendly matches and then I hope and truly believe he will have a strong tournament for us."

On selecting Noni Madueke and not selecting Jarrod Bowen:

"You mentioned Jarrod, he was just one of the players under the radar maybe, he was just excellent in every camp for us and then gets the phone call that he is not on the plane. Does Jarrod suffer a bit from the situation at his club. It is difficult for him.

"Does Noni and Bukayo (Saka) profit from the situation at their club? They're playing finals, they won the Premier League title, they play in a Champions League final. It is a question of concurrence, without telling too much, the reaction of Jarrod was just outstanding and proved again what kind of maker, he didn't play so regularly but coming on and off can be a big advantage. I believe in his ability to change matches and to disrupt defensive organisations with his one on ones."

On competition between Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham:

"They are just two of the names who are potential starters in the same position. There is still variety in these positions, so they can also play together, that should not be a problem.

"If they compete for one position through the tournament, I think it is possible to compete as accomplices and you don't have to be enemies. In the example of Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham, they are friends anyway. We have a couple of others. Bukayo Saka, Noni who fight for the same place in the club. I strongly believe it is possible that you fight for your place and still push your friend, colleague, especially in international football to the best possible performance. We took a lot of care about that, this energy is right."

On the 'leadership group', who he did not name:

"It’s a group of five or six players and there is always like a fluidity that is possible in the group, but they took ownership. They took care and they were massively influential.

"I was very, very happy with the way they acted and interacted and how they stepped up, so there is no need to change that."

11:20 BST - When asked what England need to win the World Cup, Tuchel said: "We need a bit of luck. We need our selection right. Stay healthy. Catch a momentum. Build a brotherhood. Play with courage, hunger. And take advantage of special moments.

"Once we go hopefully to knockout football it's a game of margins. It won't be done without nerves of steel.

"Not everything is in our hands but it's good to have the goal spoken out. We did this early in the first camp. Then straight away we said let's focus on what we can influence."

11:10 BST - The England boss has now been taking part in a press conference and said "that's how it is" when asked about whether some of the squad will be tired after a long season.

"It shows me this league is the strongest league in the world, the most competitive. And it shows on the negative effect our players will be tired after a long season. That's how it is," he said.

"It doesn't make it easier to go to three countries, the big climatic change. We had support from Team GB.

"It will never be an excuse.

"It goes back to getting the load right in pre-camp, getting the attitude right, don't go too early into the 'tunnel'."

He also confirmed that Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha, Fulham's Josh King and Bournemouth's Alex Scott will take part in their pre-tournament training camp in Florida to gain senior-level experience.

10:46 BST - England get their World Cup campaign underway against Croatia on June 17th before facing Ghana (June 23rd) and Panama (June 27th) to close out the group stage.

"Three very different teams," Tuchel said. "We are able to have a clear picture. A very hard opening game, England v Croatia sounds like a quarter-final game.

"If we win the group we play every fourth day, and it’s like non-stop away matches. We have to be on point with the preparation. Naturally the tension will just grow."

10:40 BST - England captain Harry Kane has said he is "extremely proud" at being called up for his third World Cup.

"I never take these moments for granted, these are all the things I dreamed of growing up," he said.

10:10 BST - England manager Thomas Tuchel said his 26-man squad was based on "trust".

"A lot of factors play into that nomination process. Like I said, I love the difficult decisions, and I love the tough decisions – they bring a certain edge. That is what you need to go all the way," he said.

"It is hard to please (everyone). In the end, we have to pick the squad that we as a staff are convinced of and really believe in.

"You feel the love of your coach, and you feel the trust. In the end, it comes down to this – who do we really trust? The connection has to be there.

"Somehow, it is a bit of a tool to challenge myself. What would I think from the outside? Mostly it is about the energy, connection and trust between me and the players."

10:05 BST - There are several big names who have not been included in Tuchel's World Cup squad.

Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Maguire are the biggest omissions, while Morgan Gibbs-White, Adam Wharton, Lewis Hall, Luke Shaw and Jarrod Bowen could also feel anguish having missed out.

10:00 BST - The England World Cup squad has been announced:

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), James Trafford (Manchester City)

Defenders: Reece James (Chelsea), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), John Stones (Manchester City), Marc Guehi (Manchester City), Dan Burn (Newcastle), Nico O'Reilly (Manchester City), Djed Spence (Tottenham), Tino Livramento (Newcastle)

Midfielders: Declan Rice (Arsenal), Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Jordan Henderson (Brentford), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Ivan Toney (Al Ahli), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Noni Madueke (Arsenal)

09:45 BST - There are several players who have made a strong case to be included, but will they make the final squad?

Here's who is expected to be in the final 26-man team, and who is likely to be excluded:

In: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Reece James, Nico O'Reilly, Djed Spence, Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Kobbie Mainoo, Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze

Out: Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harry Maguire, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Levi Colwill, Luke Shaw

Doubtful: James Trafford, Dan Burn, Jarell Quansah, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ollie Watkins, Jarrod Bowen.

09:30 BST - We are 30 minutes away from the announcement.

09:30 BST - One of the biggest suprises could see the inclusion of Ivan Toney. The 30-year-old striker has been free-scoring for Al-Ahli this season but has rarely featured for England in the build-up to this summer.

And what of Trent Alexander-Arnold? The Real Madrid defender is likely to miss out with Tuchel opting for Djed Spence, who recently broke his jaw following a collision with Liam Delap on Tuesday.

Newcastle's Tino Livramento and Dan Burn will reportedly be called up, along with Man City's John Stones and Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah.

09:28 BST - So who will make the cut for England?

News trickled through overnight that Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill will miss out, along with Man City's Phil Foden and Man Utd's Harry Maguire, who said he was "shocked and gutted".

Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White is also apparently going to be left behind, but Aston Villa's Europa League winner Ollie Watkins has reportedly done enough to make the squad.
