Porvoo native Lindell posted a competitive score of +1 on an opening day that was beset by difficult weather conditions in Northern Ireland.
The 26-year-old then climbed the leaderboard and easily made the cut with a -3 round of 68 on day two - the highlight of which was an eagle on the par-five 12th.
The world number 291 recorded another round of 68 on Saturday to move onto -5 for the championship, nine shots off the lead of Scottie Scheffler and thus not completely out of contention.
But Lindell somewhat ran out of steam on today's final round, holing three birdies and three bogeys to card a level par round of 71 and not improve on his overnight score.
He eventually finished tied for 28th, 12 shots behind the champion Scheffler, but nonetheless an impressive first major performance for a player whose most recent victory came on the Finnish Tour in 2020.
