The German handball runners-up Füchse Berlin are strengthening their options on left wing for the coming season with the 32-year old Spanish World and European Champion, Aitor Ariño.

The experienced winger and defender from FC Barcelona will form a duo with Tim Freihöfer, ten years his junior, at left wing. Ariño, who has played all his career for the Catalan giants, has signed a contract valid until 2028.

"I wanted to play in a different team again, and Germany is one of the best places to play handball. When the opportunity to move to Berlin came up, I wanted to take it," said Ariño:"I'm looking forward to playing for a top team in the best league in the world. I want to grow with the club and win titles."

With Jerry Tollbring leaving the team at the end of the season for personal reasons and Manuel Štrlek not getting his contract extended, Füchse Berlin were forced to bring in an adequate replacement at left wing.

Ariño has won the Spanish championship 13 times and the Champions League five times with Barcelona. He has played 89 international matches to date and became world champion in 2013 and European champion in 2018 and 2020.
