"We have been keeping an eye on him for some time, and his performances have again and again caught our attention", says the former German national team goalkeeper Johannes Bitter, who is now sports director at HSV.

Nicolaj Jorgensen had intially dropped handball in favor of football when he was 14. But when he reached 18 years of age he returned to play handball thanks an amazing talent.
He initially played for Mors-Thy Handball, before moving as a senior to KIF Kolding and then Team Sydhavsoerne and Sonderjyske.
This season, he has been in superb form for the Sourthern Jutland team and with 191 goals, he currently leads the goalscoring statistics in the Danish league.
"I would like to experience playing in the Bundesliga against the best players in the world. It is now time for me to take that step, because I feel ready for the Bundesliga and am proud to play for HSV", says Nicolaj Jorgensen.
