Norwegian handball star Sander Sagosen from Kolstad will return to Aalborg Håndbold with immediate effect, the two clubs announced on Thursday morning

The Norwegian handball star Sander Sagosen will rejoin Aalborg Håndbold on a contract valid for 4,5 years.

Aalborg announced on Thursday morning that the 29-year-old Norwegian has signed a transfer from Kolstad with immediate effect.

Sander Sagosen is looking forward to making a comeback for a club which has been close to his heart for many years.

"Some of the very best years in my handball career were the ones I had in Aalborg. I have lots of good memories from here and therefore I am also happy to have the opportunity to come back to the club, which has grown so much since I was here last - both financially but also in terms of ambitions."

"Therefore, I very much hope that I can contribute to the club achieving the goal of not only winning the Danish championship, but also winning the Champions League, which they came very close to doing last year. Now I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates, to pulling the red shirt over my head and not least to meeting the thousands of fantastic Aalborg fans again", said Sander Sagosen on a press conference.

Sander Sagosen can already make a comeback for Aalborg this weekend, when the team participates in the Final 4 of the Danish Cup tournament.

Sagosen was not in action Wednesday for Kolstad, when the team beat French Nantes in the Champions League. Sagosen is currently struggling with an injury he sustained during the Handball World Cup in January according to Norwegian News Agency NTB.

Sagosen, who has starred as the biggest Norwegian handball profile over the past five years, played in Aalborg from 2014 to 2017, before moving on to Paris Saint-Germain.

From 2020 to 2023, he then continued his career at THW Kiel in the German Bundesliga before returning to Norwegian handball to become part of the ambitious project in Kolstad.

Aalborg who are placed in the Champions League Group B along with Kolstad defeated FC Barcelona 36-35 at home Wednesday evening.
