Team Esbjerg are ready for the Champions League semi-final after they on Sunday afternoon won 26-22 against CSM Bucuresti in the second leg of their quarter-final. The Romanians had won the first game 30-29.

Danish handball will be heavily represented at the women's Final 4 as Team Esbjerg became the second Danish side who qualified for the women's Final 4.

This is the first time that there are two Danish teams in the Final 4 since the format was introduced in the 2013/2014 season.

After a nerve-wracking return leg in the Champions League quarter-finals, Team Esbjerg won 26-22 on Sunday over CSM Bucuresti, who is coached by Denmark's future national team coach, Helle Thomsen.

Team Esbjerg thus took a three-goal aggregate victory after a one-goal defeat in the first match in Romania.

This means that Team Esbjerg will follow Odense Handball into the Champions League's Final Four weekend in Budapest at the end of May.  Odense eliminated Ferencvaros on Saturday.
