Landin's unexpected injury has forced Aalborg Handball into the transfer market before the start of the season.
In a press release Aalborg confirm they have signed a loan deal with Ágúst Björgvinsson from Ribe-Esbjerg as a replacement for Landin.
Aalborg Handball states in its press release that Landin experienced discomfort in one knee earlier this week, and since then the goalkeeper has undergone an examination, which revealed the need for surgical intervention.
However, Landin is optimistic that he will return in the autumn.
"It is of course frustrating to have to sit out for a longer period, especially when you have had a good start and have been looking forward to the many exciting matches that lie ahead."
"However, I am confident that the break will be short, so I expect to be able to get back on the field already during the autumn", says Niklas Landin in a press release.
At Aalborg Handball, director Jan Larsen is upset about Landin's absence..
"We are of course both disappointed and shocked that Niklas has been hit by this injury. First and foremost on Niklas' behalf, but of course also on behalf of the entire club."
"We have had a really good start and are very much looking forward to getting started with the matches in the domestic Danish league as well as the Champions League", says Jan Larsen.
