The team from Kuopio wasted home ice advantage in game one, losing 6-2 to the Finals debutants, before hitting back with a 5-2 success in Lappeenranta to level matters ahead of the return to the Olvi Areena.
And KalPa made sure there would be no repeat of their opening night disappointment with a stunning start to the match, scoring four times in just two minutes and 22 seconds of play.
The first goal arrived after only 39 seconds - Juuso Maenpaa put plenty of power into his shot from the right side, and a deflection off a SaiPa stick only helped take it past goaltender Kari Piiroinen.
It was 2-0 with 01:07 on the clock, after Jere Karjalainen picked up the puck inside his defensive zone and was given the freedom of the right wing to bear down on goal and shoot beyond Piiroinen.
26 seconds of play later, it was 3-0 to the Kuopio side, as Joona Saarelainen picked out Ville Ruotsalainen in the middle, and he buried a first timer to send the home crowd wild.
Piiroinen was pulled in favour of Michael Hutchinson, but the change in netminder made no difference, as Maenpaa passed from behind the net found Jesper Mattila, who made it 4-0.
Number five arrived with 01:40 left in the first period, courtesy of Lasse Lappalainen, whose quick shot found a way through Hutchinson, as everything KalPa touched was turning to goals.
Approaching the midpoint in the match, SaiPa got themselves on the board when Saku Salminen's clean strike found its way through a crowd, but party mode at Olvi Areena was back on five minutes later, when Maenpaa was again the provider for Mattila to score his second.
After just two penalties in the opening 40 minutes, the third period was a more unsavoury affair, with an illegal check to the head from Saipa's Henri Nikkanen the worst of nine incidents that saw players sent to the box.
There was still time for more goals, though. Four minutes in, Kristjan Kombe reacted well to lift the puck over Hutchinson on the rebound, before the added his second and KalPa's eighth in the final two minutes, receiving a pass from Kosta Kapanen and finishing neatly from close range to complete the 8-1 win.
KalPa will be hoping to extend their fully-deserved series lead and move within one win of the Liiga title in game four on Wednesday in Lappeenranta.
