Minnesota Wild 4-2 Philadelphia Flyers
The Minnesota Wild (11-3-3) have hit their strides early in 2026/27, and given their success on the road (7-3-2), they entered their matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers (4-9-4) on Tuesday full of confidence. Late in the third period, this was a 3-2 game in favor of the road team, but with Danila Yurov delivering the empty netter with just minutes to go, the Wild sealed another crucial victory as they seemingly continue putting it all together.
For the Wild, it was Matt Boldy with two points and 23 saves from Jesper Wallstedt that led the way, and while the Flyers saw some positives from this game, they once again failed to have someone step up and play the role they need to win big games against tough opponents.
Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 Detroit Red Wings
The Tampa Bay Lightning (9-3-2) have dealt with a lot off the ice recently, but on the ice they just keep winning, and after racing out to a 3-0 start against the division rival Detroit Red Wings (7-6-3), it looked like a big score was on the cards. However, Detroit fought back well, with goals to Lucas Raymond and J.T. Compher making it close in the third period, but in the end, Andrei Vasilevsky did enough, stopping 19 of the 21 shots he saw to pick up the big win.
Unsurprisingly, Tampa Bay's success mostly came from their veteran core, with Brayden Point scoring the first two goals, both assisted by Nikita Kucherov, and with Ryan McDonagh's late goal, they sealed the deal by a score of 4-2.
Utah Mammoth 3-2 Toronto Maple Leafs
The Utah Mammoth (10-6-0) have shown signs of taking huge strides forward in 2026/27, and on Tuesday, their big victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs (8-7-2) has shown they're ready to take down heavyweight opponents this season. With Jack Roslovic's second goal of the game in the third, this game was tense and tied at 2-2, but that's when Nick Schmaltz stepped up and delivered his biggest goal of the season, giving Utah the lead that would end up holding.
The goal was assisted on by Clayton Keller, his third of the evening, and with Sebastian Cossa stopping 27 of the 29 shots he saw on the night, the Mammoth are taking steps towards being true contenders in the Western Conference this season.
New York Rangers 3-1 St. Louis Blues
The New York Rangers (8-7-1) have been lacking consistency early in the new campaign, but with some big wins as of late, they came into a battle with the St. Louis Blues (7-7-1) on home ice full of optimism. While it wasn't a high scoring clash, the Rangers controlled much of this game, with goals to Adam Fox, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Eeli Tolvanen giving them a commanding 3-1 lead.
Pius Suter found the net late to give the Blues a consolation goal, but with Dylan Garand once again dominant following Igor Shesterkin's injury, stopping 32/33 shots on the night as the Rangers moved to 7-2-0 at home on the year.
Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 Pittsburgh Penguins
The Vegas Golden Knights (10-5-2) have been rolling as of late, and with a record of 4-2-2 away from home, their battle with the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins (5-8-2) on Tuesday could have gone either way. The Penguins kept it much closer than many expected, but in the final 10 minutes, Trevor Connelly and Tomas Hertl scored key goals for Vegas as they pulled away for the victory.
Adin Hill was stellar in net for Vegas with 23 saves, and while Kaeden Korczak and Tommy Novak had two points each on the night, it wasn't meant to be for the Penguins as their poor start to the 2026/27 campaign after a shocking playoff push a year ago continues.
Dallas Stars 6-5 Washington Capitals
The Dallas Stars (9-5-1) have a big opportunity to make a deep run in 2026/27, and while they've not consistently dominated, they entered their matchup with the Washington Capitals (8-6-0) on Tuesday full of momentum. Five minutes into the second period, the Stars had built a commanding 4-0 lead on the back of Jason Robertson's natural hat-trick, but the fight wasn't out of Washington, as they battled back.
Two goals late in the third gave the Capitals a chance to get back into this matchup, and while Jake Oettinger wasn't fantastic for Dallas in this one, he made the stops that he needed too down the stretch as Dallas hold on to win 6-5 in a crazy contest.
Columbus Blue Jackets 7-2 Colorado Avalanche
The Columbus Blue Jackets (6-7-0) have struggled for any consistency early in the season, but on Tuesday, they showed shades of the team they could be as they absolutely anahilated the Colorado Avalanche (9-6-1) on the second night of a back-to-back. It was former Avs forward Charlie Coyle that drove play for Columbus here with two goals and two assists, while Mathieu Oliver and Cole Sillinger both chipped it with multi-point nights as they scored a season high seven goals.
Colorado was lackluster once more, and while Cale Makar had a goal and an assist in this one, it wasn't enough to keep it close as they were blown away by a team that is now 5-3-0 on home ice despite being under .500 overall on the year.
Winnipeg Jets 5-4 Montreal Canadiens
Of all the great games on Tuesday night, none compare to the Winnipeg Jets (5-8-3) coming back from four goals down against a stunned Montreal Canadiens (9-3-3), who looked to have this game sealed late in the third period. However, the win wasn't meant to be, as the Jets scored four goals in the final three minutes of the game, with two from Kyle Connor in the final minute as Winnipeg forced OT on the road against Montreal.
From there, it was Dylan Samberg that played the OT hero, and after losing nine straight games, the Jets pulled off a miraculous comeback that they hope will end up turning their season around following their horrid run in the past two weeks.
New Jersey Devils 4-3 Edmonton Oilers
The New Jersey Devils (10-5-0) have swung big by acquiring Connor Hellebuyck, and with a victory over the Edmonton Oilers (11-2-3), the team are now 3-0-0 in games started by the former Jets superstar goaltender. This one wasn't easy however, as Connor McDavid continued his hot start to the year, tallying one assist in the game, while Jack Hughes was the star of the show, netting two goals and adding an assist as this game headed to overtime.
That wouldn't be the deciding factor, as this game went on to penalties, and with the Oilers turning to Kasperi Kapanen to tie the shootout, it was Hellebuyck that came up big as the Devils won 4-3 in his first home start with the organization.
Nashville Predators 4-1 Carolina Hurricanes
The Nashville Predators (6-4-5) have shown some flashes early in 2026/27, and while they are yet to find the consistency, they picked up a huge win on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes (12-3-2). It was an all-round performance from the Predators, with two points to the trio of Ross Colton, Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg as Juuse Saros stopped 29 of the 30 shots on the night as the Predators delivered perhaps their best game of the season.
For Carolina, it was a rare off-night as the defending Champions got just one goal from Jackson Blake on the night, and while they're still a loaded team that could go back-to-back in 2027, this just shows that they indeed can be beaten.
Anaheim Ducks 5-4 Vancouver Canucks
The Anaheim Ducks (7-7-1) haven't been off to the expected start in 2026/27, but when this team is on, like they were against the Vancouver Canucks (3-13-1) on Tuesday, they've shown just how good they can be. This offensive explosion was led by a Cutter Gauthier hat-trick and multi-point nights from Beckett Sennecke, Jackson Lacombe and Mikael Granlund, with the Ducks finally finding their groove.
The Canucks fought hard however, with Jake DeBrusk scoring two in the third period to make it a one goal game, but ultimately, Vancouver's tanking season continues as they fall in a close one 5-4 against a fierce division rival.
