In a matchup that saw a total of 140 penalty minutes, the Panthers claimed all momentum after their beatdown of the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3.

After a combined 27 penalties, 17 power plays, 59 hits, and 62 shots, the Panthers came out victorious to go home with a 6-1 win.

From fights to what felt like power plays every minute of the game, Game 3 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals was a show for different reasons compared to Game 2.

So let's get into the recap!

1st Period

It took Brad Marchand 56 seconds - I repeat - 56 seconds to find the back of the net in Game 3 as he continued to play like the best player on the planet this series.

The goal marked Marchand's eighth of the playoffs and fourth of this series alone.

Florida would later go up 2-0 in the game thanks to a goal by Carter Verhaeghe, his ninth of the playoffs.

The Panthers would finish 1-4 on the power play in a period that saw a combined eight penalties between both teams.

Despite outshooting the Panthers 12-10 in the first, Edmonton looked to be outclassed on every level of the game, especially when they were on their penalty kill.

And Marchand had some choice words for the Oilers bench before the first intermission.

2nd Period

But that wouldn't matter after coming out of the break with a goal of their own within the first three minutes.

This time around, it was a power-play goal from Corey Perry, his ninth of the playoffs.

Yet, not even two whole minutes went by without the Panthers answering right back with a goal of their own.

This time, Sam Reinhart put the puck in net for Florida for his fifth goal of the playoffs, assisted by Verhaeghe.

Then, to add insult to injury, the league's leading goal scorer this postseason in Sam Bennett scored a breakaway goal to give the Panthers a commanding 4-1 lead, making Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner look downright silly.

The goal marked a fourth straight game with at least one goal for Bennett - a Panthers franchise record.

McDavid would eventually leave the game, but returned shortly after, following a nasty hit by Florida's Aaron Ekblad

But the Oilers, despite outshooting the Panthers yet again 12-9 this period, were completely outclassed in every sense of the word.

And just like the end of the first period, the Oilers and Panthers made sure to take their time going into their respective tunnels before the final period of Game 3.

3rd Period

After starting the period with 1:16 left on the power play, the Panthers failed...but went back on another immediately following Skinner's delay of game penalty.

Ekblad would put what felt like the final dagger after his power-play goal that forced the Oilers to swap out Stuart for Calvin Pickard.

To make matters worse for the Oilers, they went on to receive four game misconducts with over nine minutes left in the game.

Darnell Nurse, Evander Kane, Mattias Ekholm, and Trent Frederic were all tossed after massive fights broke out.

Then, just to pour it on even more, to the tune of fans singing "Country Roads" by John Denver, the Panthers scored their third power-play goal of the night to finish the game 6-1, making it Evan Rodrigues' second goal of the playoffs.

In what was the ugliest game of the playoffs for the Oilers, they will look to rebound in Game 4 on Thursday, January 12th, in Florida
