In a meeting of the top two in last year's Swedish Hockey League (SHL) regular season, Frolunda got the better of Skelleftea on penalties, while Timra sailed into the top 10 with their fourth win in a row, shutting out IF Bjorkloven.

Frolunda held onto second place in the standings and increased their lead over third-placed Skelleftea to three points, as the European champions beat the Swedish champions 3-2 after penalties for their second win in a row, ending Skelleftea's two-game winning streak in the process.

After Samuel Fagemo put Frolunda ahead in the first period, the visitors turned things around in the second through Victor Stjernborg and Par Lindholm, but their lead was short-lived, as Samuel Johannesson made it 2-2 just a couple of minutes later. Neither side could find a winner in the third period or overtime, then the first seven penalties of the shootout were all missed before Filip Cederqvist struck the winner for the home side.

Skelleftea remained third because IF Bjorkloven were beaten for the third time in four matches, going down 3-0 to in-form Timra, who jumped from the relegation zone to the play-off places with their fourth win in a row - a run of form only bettered by leaders Farjestad.

It wasn't until the final minute of period two that Eddie Genborg broke the deadlock for the hosts, who wrapped up the win with one powerplay and one empty-net goal in the third, both scored by Reid Gardiner, while Jacob Johansson made 20 saves to earn the shutout.

Farjestad's winning streak is up to eight after winning the top vs bottom clash 4-2 against Linkoping, but they and Frolunda were the only teams in the top seven to pick up wins in this round. Fifth-placed Brynas were beaten 3-2 at home by Vaxjo, who go 11th after a first win in four.

Rogle in sixth went down 2-1 at home to Orebro, while Djurgarden moved three points clear of the bottom two thanks to a 3-2 win after penalties against Malmo coupled with Lulea putting their bad form to bed with a 5-2 win over HV 71. With those results, every team from fifth to ninth in the table are locked together on 14 points.
