The Danes were basically humiliated in front of their home fans, when the Czech World champions underlined their current strenght as they ran riot against Mikael Gath's side which succumbed to the Czech pressure especially during the second period which has been an on-going problem for the Danes throughout the tournament.
However, much could have been different if Mikkel Aagaard's goal after eleven minutes had not been called off for offside after a coach's challenge.
"It would have meant so much to us if we had got the leading goal and that would have lid the fire under the crowd at Boxen even further. We feel it robbed us of our momentum as we had played well in the first period. But we can't cry over it. The goal was offside, we have to accept it and move on", said Jesper Jensen to Flashscore.
The Danish hopes were especially relinquished in the second period where the Czechs scored four goals in quick succession, much to the frustration of Jesper Jensen. "Its all about focus and concentration and when you don't have it against such a strong opponent, you are duly punished and that was simply not good enough."
Despite the 7-2 defeat, the Danish captain was upbeat about the Danish chances for the rest of the tournament. "I still believe that we can end up with a good result. There four matches left and lots of points to play for, so I hope that the Boxen Arena will be full again when we face Kazakhstan on Wednesday."
