Jones pulled off an unlikely 6-3 win in Saturday evening's semi-final and will face Mark Selby in the final after the Englishman defeated Liam Highfield in the other match by the same scoreline.
The world number 31 battled through a tough opening exchange, with the match eventually level at three frames each.
Jones took his game to another level to close out the semi-final, though, winning the next three frames uninterrupted to book his spot in Sunday's showpiece event.
It also marks Jones' first win over Trump for more than two years following three consecutive losses in major competitions through the end of 2024 and the entirety of 2025.
Selby's semi-final against Highfield went in the same direction, with the world number four - the highest-ranked player left in the competition - battling through tough opening exchanges before taking the last three frames to secure a place in the final.
Jones and Selby will go head-to-head with history on the Englishman's side, having beaten his final opposition in seven of their eight previous encounters.
