Kansas City Royals No. 2 prospect Carter Jensen is being promoted to the major league roster on Monday with 25 games left on their schedule, according to the team.

Jensen was slashing .290/.377/.501 with 20 home runs, 76 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in the minors this season.

The 21-year-old catcher started the year in Double-A, slashing .292/.360/.420 with six home runs, 37 RBI, and seven stolen bases through 68 games before being promoted to Triple-A, where he boosted his power numbers.

Jensen more than doubled his home run count in Triple-A while also surpassing his total RBI, hitting 14 homers and 39 RBI in just 43 games, hitting a whopping 1.051 OPS.

Kansas City is currently sitting just three games back of the final American League Wild Card spot with a 70-67 record, bringing up Jensen to possibly help them receive a lefty boost in the lineup with his bat.

After coming off a series loss to the Detroit Tigers, the Royals are set to begin their three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on September 2nd.
