Marseille lost their place at the top of the Ligue 1 table after Ousmane Camara fired in a 96th-minute equaliser, with Les Olympiens’ run of nine consecutive home victories coming to an end.

Les Olympiens had plenty of possession early on but Sidiki Cherif was released behind CJ Egan-Riley for the first shot of the game, even if that was routinely stopped by Geronimo Rulli.

Herve Koffi’s first scare was of his own making as the Angers goalkeeper took too long to make a pass that was blocked by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but went wide.

Undeterred, the fearless visitors kept coming forward with Cherif’s header from Lilian Raolisoa’s pinpoint cross bouncing off the ground and over the crossbar.

They perhaps overcommitted from a corner, as the hosts raced forward before Koffi parried Igor Paixao’s attempt and Mason Greenwood sent his follow-up over the crossbar.

With the visitors undeterred, it wasn’t long until Nayef Aguerd misjudged a bounce and was then held off by Cherif, who then beat Rulli to score in a third consecutive Ligue 1 match.

The striker had Marseille’s backline floundering again before seeing a venomous shot saved as Le SCO continued to look confident, while Carlens Arcus blocked Paixao’s attempt at the other end to ensure they stayed ahead.

Raolisoa also saw a shot deflected behind before Marseille were booed off at half-time.

Roberto De Zerbi responded with a triple change ahead of the restart, but there was more uncertainty in his defence as Jordan Lefort’s header went in off Egan-Riley before the own goal was ruled out for a marginal offside.

One of the substitutes made the most of that reprieve, as a blistering break culminated in Robinio Vaz converting from Aubameyang’s pass.

Greenwood’s free-kick was awkwardly saved by Koffi with Marseille pushing for the goal that eventually came in the 70th minute, when Vaz beat Lefort and Jacques Ekomie with ease before smashing the ball inside the near post.

Aubameyang wasted the opportunity to give his side a buffer after Himad Abdelli’s pass was intercepted.

That moment was punished deep into stoppage time, when Amine Sbaï danced his way through the box before eventually being stopped and Camara took over to equalise and take Angers to a third consecutive match unbeaten.

The draw means Marseille are winless in their last three across all competitions, which will be even more frustrating due to the missed opportunity to go top of Ligue 1.
