The New York Yankees acquired closer David Bednar from the Pittsburgh Pirates in a trade on Thursday.
In return, the Pirates received NYY No. 8 prospect Rafael Flores (C) and No. 14 prospect Edgleen Perez (C).

Bednar is one of the league's top closers, posting a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities this season with 51 strikeouts in 38 innings. The 30-year-old recently earned his 100th career save.
Opponents are hitting .225 off Bednar this season. One of the fan favourites in Pittsburgh will now bolster a Yankees bullpen that ranks 21st with a 3.67 ERA.
