The NHL had a 10-game slate on Monday and it provided plenty of great moments!

Red Wings 3-2 Maple Leafs

Dylan Larkin scored his second goal of the season to get Detroit out to a 1-0 lead before teammate James van Riemsdyk scored his first goal of the season to make it 2-0.

But Toronto's Matthew Knies and Calle Jarnkok retaliated to tie the game up 2-2. It was Jarnkok's third goal of the season - joining eight other players tied for third-most in the league.

Detroit's Mason Appleton scored the eventual game-winner goal with 45 seconds left in the game, despite Toronto outshooting them a whopping 40-15 and winning almost 63% of the face-offs.

The Red Wings improve to 2-1-0, while the Maple Leafs fall to 1-2-0.

Jets 5-2 Islanders

The Jets got out to a commanding 4-1 lead in the second period, leaving the Islanders in the dust despite outshooting Winnipeg 35-26.

Morgan Barron (2), Nino Niederreiter (1), Logan Stanley (1), and Tanner Pearson (1) all scored before Mark Scheifele (3) put home an empty netter.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Emil Heineman scored for the Isles, with Jonathan Drouin picking up an assist following his one-game suspension (read more here).

New York joined the Buffalo Sabres as the only two teams to start the year 0-3 (for now).

Predators 4-1 Senators

The Nashville Predators won their second game of the season, while the Senators dropped their second.

Ottawa created some controversy to start the game after skating over Predators goalie Juuse Saros' crease. The Swedish netminder would get his revenge and go on to record 31 saves.

Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals (one empty-netter). Ryan O'Reilly and Cole Smith (EN) would score the other two for Nashville.

Ridly Greig (1) scored Ottawa's lone goal off a power play.

Lightning 4-3 Bruins

Tampa Bay earned their first win of the season after holding off a late run by the Bruins.

Anthony Cirelli (2) got the Lightning out to an early 2-0 in the first period before teammate Yanni Gourde (2) extended that lead with a goal of his own just 39 seconds into the second period.

Boston's Casey Mittelstadt (2) would finally get his team on the board less than a minute later. But Pontus Holmberg extended Tampa's lead 4-1.

Jordan Harris (1) and Morgan Geekie (2) would score before the end of the second period. But the Bruins couldn't muster up any goals in the third for their first loss of the season despite outshooting Tampa 33-23.

Avalanche 3-1 Sabres

Buffalo's scoring woes continue as they lose three straight to start the season with a league-worst -8 goal differential.

Tage Thompson (1) tied things up in the first period after MacKinnon got the Avs on the board first.

But Cale Makar (1) and MacKinnon (4) added insurance in the second period, leaving the Sabres on the outside the rest of the way.

Colorado had more shots (37-29), won more faceoffs (56.5%), and recorded more hits (20-11) en route to being the first Western Conference team to three wins this season.

Flyers 5-2 Panthers

Rick Tocchet, who spent 11 years as a player for the Flyers, earned his first win as their manager.

Tyson Foerster scored the lone goal of the first to put Philly up 1-0 before Sean Couturier (2) scored his first of two goals in the game to extend the lead to 2-0.

Sam Reinhart (2) and Sam Bennett (1) would tie it back up for the Panthers before Courturier put them up 3-2 with a beautiful assist from Trevor Zegras. Bobby Brink (2) and Christian Dvorak (1) would score the empty netters to finish off the game.

Devils 3-2 Blue Jackets

Timo Meier (2) put the Devils up 1-0 on the team's first of two power plays for the lone goal of the first period.

Columbus would battle back and tie it up thanks to a Kirill Marchenko (4) breakaway goal.

But after going on the power play a second, and final, time, the Devils took advantage with Dawson Mercer's first goal of the season. Mercer (2) would later score his second goal of the game on an empty-netter.

Dmitri Voronkov (2) cut the lead for the Blue Jackets with 21 seconds left to go, but the team couldn't capitalize any further.

Blues 5-2 Canucks

Jimmy Snuggerud (2) put up his first career multi-goal game in the win over the Blues. He got things started to give his team a 1-0 lead before teammate Brayden Schenn added another at the start of the second period.

Kiefer Sherwood (2) would cut the lead for the Canucks, but Snuggerud piled on another on the power play, giving the Blues a 3-1 lead that proved to be enough.

Kiefer Sherwood scored his third goal of the season for the Canucks, while Nick Bjugstad (1) and Jake Neighbours (3) added the final touches for St. Louis.

Wild 4-3 Kings

After going up 3-0 in the first period with three power-play goals from Jared Spurgeon (1), Kirill Kaprizov (3), and Matt Boldy (3), the Kings battled back with three goals of their own.

After a scoreless second period, Kevin Fiala (2), Quinton Byfield (2), and Adrian Kempe (2) all scored in the third to send it to overtime.

When neither team could find the net in OT, Marco Rossi saved the day for the Wild with the game's only shootout goal.

Blackhawks 3-1 Mammoth

The Blackhawks needed just 13 shots on goal for the win over Utah. The game saw a dead first period with no goals from either team.

Then, Ilya Mikheyev put his Blackhawks up on the board with the only goal of the second period between both teams.

Andre Burakovsky (2) would score the go-ahead goal on a power play during the third period before Mikheyev (2) scored his second goal on an empty netter.

Chicago also won on the physical end, putting up 31 (Utah -16) and 14 blocked shots (Utah - 3).
