An unknown tennis fan is set to pay no less than 155,000 Danish kroner (approx. 21,000 euros) to play an hour's tennis with Holger Rune and the money will be distributed for a children's charity organisation.

Rune in the beginning of March launched an online auction, giving people the opportunity to bid on an exclusive tennis lesson with Danish tennis star Holger Rune.

The Danish tennis player is actively involved in launching initiatives and advocating children’s and young people’s well-being.

Therefore Holger Rune auctioned off a gift card for a one-hour tennis session, along with a racquet he competed with at the 2025 Australian Open and 2024 Rolex Paris Masters.

All profits from the auction would go directly to "Børns Vilkår", the children’s rights organization that Rune proudly supports as an ambassador.

The starting price was 10,000 kroner (approx. 1,300 euros) but the bidding really took off with the auction finishing on Tuesday evening, so the winning bid ended with 155,000 Danish kroner (approx. 21,000 euros)

"It's completely crazy. But I'm also a good tennis player", said Rune with a smile during an interview with TV2 Sport.

"No, I'm joking. It really, really means a lot because the whole idea of doing this is to help kids. That someone wants to pay that much money to play for an hour with me means a lot."

The bid history reveals that the highest bid was 60,000 Danish kroner (approx. 8,000 euros) until Tuesday. On the last day, a new buyer signed up, and during the very last hours, the bid rose from 60,000 to 155,000 kroner.

The fact that the purpose of the auction is to make a difference for children in need makes the large amount extra significant, explains Rune.

"We can help a lot of children and give even more back to those who dream of doing something in this life. It warms my heart and I also try to be a good role model in and around Denmark.

Rune will take part in the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami after he reached the final at Indian Wells.
