Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes earned the win in his first-ever start at the iconic Fenway Park during Friday's matchup against the Boston Red Sox.

Skenes finished his outing after six innings, giving up just one run on two hits while striking out six and walking one. He's now 9-9 on the year in 28 starts.

The National League Cy Young award front-runner has given up two or fewer runs in his last three starts and now boasts an MLB-best 2.05 earned run average.

Skenes is also fourth in total strikeouts (187) and sixth in opponent batting average (.198). The 23-year-old two-time All-Star has already proven to be the best pitcher in the league and is looking to earn his first Cy Young.

Skenes finished third in Cy Young voting in 2024 when he won NL Rookie of the Year in 23 starts, throwing a 1.96 ERA and striking out 170 in 130 innings.

Pittsburgh is now 60-75 on the year as they sit in last place in the National League Central division.
