Njoku, 29, visited the Baltimore Ravens back in March, but the team went in a different direction. The vet will be entering his 10th season after spending all of the previous nine with the Browns.
His four touchdowns last season were the fewest in the past three years, while his 293 receiving yards were his fewest since 2020, when he posted 213.
His lone Pro Bowl year (2023) came after posting a career-high across the board in receptions (81), targets (121), yards (882), and touchdowns (6). Njoku has yet to eclipse any of those numbers in any season since.
He missed a total of 11 games in the past two seasons due to ankle and hamstring injuries in 2024 and multiple knee injuries in 2025.
The Chargers recently signed former Ravens third-string tight end Charlie Kolar to a three-year, $24.3 million deal this offseason as he sits behind two-year tight end standout Oronde Gadsden, who posted 664 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.
Los Angeles finished with an 11-6 record last season, then lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Wild Card of the playoffs. Since Njoku's career started in 2017, the Browns have only had two winning records and two playoff appearances.
In that same time span, the Chargers have posted six winning records with four playoff appearances, losing in the Wild Card in three of the past four seasons.
