Elina Østerli, the girlfriend of the Norwegian international handball player from GOG, Alexander Blonz, was quick to react when Blonz suffered a blood clot on the brain and had to be rushed hospital.

Blonz is now out for the season and he also had to pull out of the Norwegain squad for the ongoing World Cup but had it not been for Elina Østerli, things could have turned out much worse for Blonz.

On December 10, he aggrevated an old knee injury and the next day he suffered a blood clot in the brain. "I was unable to speak normally and had some muscle spasms", says Alexander Blonz to Norwegian media VG.

Luckily he was at home together with his girlfriend, Elina Østerli, who was quick to call for help.

"If she hadn't been there, and I had been alone, I wouldn't have been able to do anything. Then I would have just lay there. Then I wouldn't have been in the same shape I am in today", says Blonz, who stars as one of the profiles for Danish club GOG.

"She called the ambulance and got help from neighbors on the way to the hospital", says Tobias Grøndahl, who lives just 200 meters from his teammate. Grøndahl had visited Blonz just an hour before the incident took place where he was baking cookies.

"There has been a lot of uncertainty and stress in recent weeks. I have had my mobile on max. But it is good to see that he is doing so well", says Grøndahl."

"I have been unlucky. This was 100 percent random. I could not have done anything to prevent it", says Alexander Blonz himself.

"The reason why I got the blood clot was that I have a hole in my heart, something which one in five people is born with. It has not been closed. I didn't know anything about this. Unfortunately", he explains.

Alexander Blonz will undergo a knee operation at the end of January to fix his ligament damage. Blonz won't be in action again until next season.
