Sydney FC's men's and women's A-League teams will proudly sport the club's new 'Unity Kit' on the weekend of March 15th-16th, during which the A-League will celebrate its third annual Pride Round.
The men's team will be hosting Wellington Phoenix at Allianz Stadium on Sunday March 16th, which coincidentally was rescheduled due to their double-legged AFC Champions League 2 quarter-finals tie against Jeonbuk Motors, whilst the women's Ninja A-League side will be taking on Wellington at Leichhardt Oval on March 15th.
The games were initially scheduled to be a double-header at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking about the launch of Sydney's inaugural pride kit, CEO Mark Aubrey hailed the club's "commitment to bringing together all of Sydney’s communities, including LGBTQI+ people, at our games.
“As a club, we firmly believe that football is for everyone, and our matches should be a welcoming place, where people from all backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs feel at home.
“Our Unity Kit opens the door to an ongoing, multi-year approach to inclusivity.
“In the years ahead, we hope to expand this concept further, incorporating more elements that recognise and celebrate the diverse communities that make up our multicultural city.”
In a statement celebrating the launch of the A-Leagues' third Pride Round event, Executive Chair Stephen Conroy said:
“We began this journey with Pride Cup and the PFA in 2021 as part of our ongoing commitment to make football accessible and inclusive for all.
“We are proud to be holding our third league-wide Pride Celebration grounded in player education and the ambition to make a long-term impact. We’ve taken strides forward in Australia and New Zealand to make football more inclusive for fans and players, and we look forward to continuing to play our part in 2025."
