There has been a raft of changes in the coaching departments at Betway Premiership clubs ahead of the new season as teams opt to move in a different direction, many of them despite having success in the previous campaign.

Here is a quick guide to the changes that have been made.

KAIZER CHIEFS

Chiefs have appointed Fernando Da Cruz, a long-term target who was at the club briefly before as assistant coach to Nasreddine Nabi. The Frenchman is experienced as a head coach, having previously been at Ligue 1 side Lille (2018-2020), Belgian outfit Mouscron (2020) and Moroccan club AS FAR (2022/23), who Mamelodi Sundowns beat in the final of the CAF Champions League last season. He takes over from Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, who were co-coaches last season.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED

Eric Tinkler left at the end of last season despite the club finishing a credible fifth in the table. A good first half of the season was followed by a poor second half. Kaze has taken over for his first head coach role, a gamble in some ways for the Limpopo side, but he does at least have experience of the league after spending the last two seasons at Chiefs.

DURBAN CITY

Another former Chiefs co-coach, Ben Youssef, has taken over at Durban City after the club parted ways with Pitso Dladla, despite the fact the latter delivered a top-half finish and the Nedbank Cup last season. Dladla was the third permanent coach at the club in 2025/26, but the team has opted for another change as they prepare to play in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time next season.

LAMONTVILLE GOLDEN ARROWS

Golden Arrows parted ways with Manqoba Mngqithi at the end of last season, despite him taking them to sixth in the table, one of their better finishes in recent years. They have replaced him with Dladla, who makes the short trip from Durban City. This is a big chance for him to establish himself in the top division.

MARUMO GALLANTS

Gallants have made what looks like a coup with the capture of former Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe, who took the latter to seventh last season. Mohafe knows the league and has done well with scant resources at City. Gallants will hope he can replicate that at the Bloemfontein-based side.

POLOKWANE CITY

The club are looking for a new coach after the exit of Mohafe. At this stage, there is no indication as to who will take over.

KRUGER UNITED

The promoted side are said to be looking to bring in Joel Masutha as head coach and demote Abram Mangoya to assistant. Nothing has been made official, but the club are said to be looking for a coach with top-flight experience.

CHIPPA UNITED

The Eastern Cape side brought in Brandon Truter on a short-term deal to help them avoid the drop at the end of last season and have now reportedly turned that into a permanent deal, if anything is ever really permanent at Chippa.
