Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have already played 12 games in all competitions this season and, while Kaizer Chiefs lag some way behind with eight games, it is still a decent sample size to look at who have been the most-used outfield players this campaign.

Domestic action gets back under way this weekend with the MTN8 final between Pirates and Sundowns in Durban after what has been a long international break.

It has already been a busy period for the pair, who will have to use the full breadth of their squads if they are to go deep into the CAF Champions League this season.

So who has the most minutes for them among the outfield players?

Kaizer Chiefs – Inacio Miguel (697 minutes)

The Chiefs centre-back has been the most-used player in any position this season and has featured in all eight of the club’s games.

He was the second most-used outfield player throughout the whole of last season, behind winger Glody Lilepo, who has since left the club.

In this campaign, midfielder Lebo Maboe (669) is second on the list, though his recent withdrawal from the Bafana Bafana squad due to injury may affect that.

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen (630), now nursing an injury, is third, with centre-back Zitha Kwinika (563) fourth.

The Betway Premiership is never short of drama as Orlando Pirates ended Mamelodi Sundowns' eight-year reign as champions last season. Kaizer Chiefs are hoping to become genuine title contenders again this year. Keep up to date with the latest news, analysis, incredible statistics and more.

Mamelodi Sundowns – Marcelo Allende (992)

The pint-sized Chilean midfielder continues to be a big player for Sundowns with his work rate and quality on the ball. He has been the model of consistency since his arrival at the club in 2022 and has very rarely found himself sidelined by injury.

He has featured in some capacity in all 12 of Sundowns’ games and, given that he was the outfield player with the most minutes in the 2025/26 campaign, it should be no surprise.

Winger Tashreeq Matthews (852) and striker Brayan Leon (778) are next on the list, though for the record, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has featured for the maximum 1,020 minutes.

Orlando Pirates – Lebone Seema (1,082)

The centre-back has had an excellent start to the campaign and won his first Bafana Bafana caps in this window.

He has featured in all 12 of Pirates’ games and, while goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has more minutes (1,110), no outfield player has more than Seema.

Second on the list in that regard is right-back Kamogelo Sebelebele (956), followed by midfielder Thapelo Mokobodi (763), who has done well since his arrival from Stellenbosch FC.
