During Monday's UEFA Champions League draw in Nyon, Feyenoord were drawn against SL Benfica and OGC Nice in a potential play-off round.

Robin van Persie's side first have to play Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the third round of the qualifying phase. Feyenoord host the Istanbul side in Rotterdam on Wednesday (21.00 CET) for the first leg.

If Feyenoord fail to beat Fenerbahce, they will directly qualify for the UEFA Europa League's league phase. The winner of the matchup between the Dutch and Turkish giants will face either Benfica or OGC Nice.

Feyenoord and Benfica met in last year's League Phase of the UEFA Champions League. The game became a prey for Feyenoord, who beat the Portuguese giants 3-1 on their own turf.

Fenerbahce and Benfica met each other earlier this pre-season as the Portuguese side won 3-2. The two sides also met in the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase in 2018 - Benfica knocked Fenerbahce out with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Feyenoord and OGC Nice have never met in an official match, but played their first game against each other earlier this summer: Feyenoord lost 2-1 to the Ligue 1 outfit in a pre-season friendly in Austria.

The last time Fenerbahce and Nice met was during the 1959/60 season, when the two sides met three times in the first round. Both Fenerbahce and Nice grabbed a 2-1 win in their home legs, after which Nice knocked the Turkish outfit out with a 5-1 win.

The play-off round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase will be played on 19/20 and 26/27 August.
