5 - It was a five-star performance from Atalanta as they beat Sturm Graz 5-0 to put themselves in a great spot to qualify for the last 16. The Bergamaschi also ended a run of five games without a home win in the competition, stretching back to the 2021/22 season. On that occasion, they topped Young Boys 1-0.
9 - AS Monaco struck early in their 1-0 success over Aston Villa, also booking a place in the knockout stages. That result brought their total number of wins against Premier League opposition in Europe to nine. They have also won their last three versus English teams on home soil.
2 - Stuttgart kept their hopes of progression alive as they got the better of Slovan Bratislava 3-1 in the Slovak capital. In doing so, Die Schwaben have won exactly two away games in each of their last three European group-phase appearances. They managed the same feat in the 2010/11 and 2012/13 Europa League group stages as well.
12 - Liverpool were made to work in their 2-1 victory over Lille at Anfield, booking a top-two finish for the Reds. Moreover, Arne Slot's men now have 12 straight victories at this stage of the Champions League since a 4-1 beating by Napoli in the 2022/23 campaign.
11 - PSV held on for a 3-2 win away to Crvena zvezda, meaning the Dutch champions are all but assured a place in the knockout-round playoffs. For the Serbs, who have been eliminated with the result, it means they have gone 11 home games in the Champions League without a clean sheet. Their last one came in the 2018/19 season when they stunned Liverpool 2-0.
16 - Juventus continued to be the draw specialists as their 0-0 stalemate in Belgium against Club Brugge was their 16th across all competitions this term. The Bianconeri have 13 in the Serie A, along with three in the Champions League. They, along with Celtic, have the most in the league phase this season.
20 - Borussia Dortmund fell 2-1 at Bologna, but still managed to progress to at least the knockout-round playoffs. Die Schwarzgelben have now lost to an Italian side in Europe for the 20th time, which is exactly half of their total matches versus Serie A opposition.
4 - In what turned out to be the most dramatic game of the round, Barcelona struck with virtually the last kick of the game to defeat Benfica 5-4 in Lisbon. Despite leading twice, the Portuguese giants threw away all three points towards the end. It is just the second time they have lost a European match despite scoring three or more goals. It also happened nearly 21 years ago in a 4-3 reverse to Inter.
3 - Atletico Madrid once again left it late, but they found their winner in stoppage time. The 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen made it three consecutive home wins over Bundesliga opposition. They beat RB Leipzig on Matchday 1 and Borussia Dortmund in last season's quarter-finals, also by that same scoreline.
8 - RB Leipzig, who lost all six of their league-phase matches heading into Wednesday, earned a 2-1 win over Sporting CP. While the Germans were already out before kick-off, the result saw them put an eight-game winless run in the competition - seven of which were losses - to a close. They were even defeated in their last four Champions League home games as well.
7 - The number seven is the theme here for Shakhtar Donetsk, who prevailed 2-0 over Brest to maintain their slim hopes of progression. The Miners are on seven points from as many matches and have also scored seven times so far, although those goals have all come from their last four games.
0 - Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 success over Dinamo Zagreb to put themselves in a commanding position to reach the round of 16 directly. The Gunners managed yet another clean sheet at the Emirates, leaving them as the only side (so far) to have not conceded at home in all four league-phase games. However, Inter, Bayer Leverkusen, and Aston Villa can all join them if they do not concede next week.
10 - Another team who are on the precipice of securing a place in the last 16 are AC Milan. The Rossoneri beat Girona 1-0, which officially eliminated the Spanish team. The seven-time winners of the competition have now ended a 10-game run in UEFA club competitions without a clean sheet, with the last one coming in the Europa League knockout round playoffs a year ago.
13 - Celtic inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Young Boys through a late own goal to assure themselves a place in the knockout rounds for the first time since 2013. The Swiss club, one of two teams not to have earned a point in the league phase so far, conceded 13 times on their travels. Only RB Salzburg (14) have conceded more than them.
16 - Feyenoord pulled off the stunt of the night on Wednesday, shocking Bayern Munich 3-0 to make it to the knockout stages. The Eredivisie side have enjoyed a rich history against German opposition in Europe. It was their 16th time winning over such opponents, by far the most against any other country. Their next best is eight wins, against sides from England, Italy, and Sweden.
15 - Manchester City could end up with an unwanted record come the end of the league phase. A 4-2 reverse at Paris Saint-Germain leaves the Cityzens on the outside looking in for one of the final knockout-round spots. Should they fail to beat Club Brugge next week, they will be knocked out despite scoring (at least) 15 goals in the league phase. No team has ever been eliminated from an opening phase of a UEFA club competition having scored that many goals.
6 - Real Madrid clinched their place in the top 24 with a 5-1 win over Salzburg at home. For the Austrian club, who are now out with the loss, it is their sixth defeat on Spanish soil, and 14th overall. As if they have not gotten enough of LaLiga opposition, they will close out their league phase campaign at home to none other than Atletico Madrid.
1 - Inter Milan have enjoyed keeping their matches incredibly close in the Champions League this term. Their 1-0 victory at Sparta Prague made it the fifth time that one of their matches in the tournament this term ended with just one goal scored. The better news for the Nerazzurri? They came out on top in four of those five outings.
