The first legs of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals were on Tuesday and Wednesday. Four sides take a lead with them to their respective return matches, which could prove crucial. Here is one stat for each team following this week's games.

Bayern Munich 1-2 Inter Milan

22 - Bayern Munich have it all to do after their 2-1 loss to Inter Milan. The Bavarians hope to play the final at their own venue. They will have to do it the hard way, though.

The defeat ended a 22-game unbeaten run at home in Europe. Their last home loss also happened to be at the quarter-final stage when they fell 3-2 to PSG four years ago. Despite winning the other match 1-0 in France, they were eliminated on away goals that year.

12 - Inter Milan have been very difficult to beat this term. The Nerazzurri have just five defeats across all competitions this term. They are enjoying another good Champions League campaign, and they have a more than realistic chance of making a second showpiece in three years.

Their win on Tuesday was their fourth on the road in Europe this season. It is the first time in 12 years that Inter have won four or more away games in Europe during the same season. The last time they managed this was in the 2012/13 Europa League, when they were victorious on five occasions (qualifiers included).

Arsenal 3-0 Real Madrid

5 - Arsenal have been nearly unstoppable in the 2024/25 Champions League, and that was put on display in a dominant 3-0 win over Real Madrid.

The Gunners are one of only two sides left in the competition to have never won the competition, but with performances like Tuesday's, they will certainly stand a chance. They are now unbeaten in their last five games against LaLiga opposition, winning the last four outings.

0 - Real Madrid suffered a fifth defeat in the Champions League this term on Tuesday. The only other time that happened was in 2000/01, when they still reached the semi-finals.

However, the more interesting stat is that Arsenal became the 60th different team Los Blancos have faced in Europe at least three times. Yet, the Gunners are the only one of those teams Real have yet to score against. The only other sides who can claim that clean-sheet feat are Ipswich (from two matches) and Lille (one).

Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Aston Villa

28 - Paris Saint-Germain are one of four teams left in the Champions League that are in the running for a treble this term. Having already clinched Ligue 1 on the weekend, Luis Enrique's side followed it up with a 3-1 comeback win over Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Les Parisiens have now found the back of the net a total of 28 times in the competition this term. That is the most they have ever scored in a continental campaign, although this is the most number of games they have ever played in Europe in any one season.

6 - Aston Villa have it all to do next week at Villa Park as they failed to hold onto their lead in Paris. Just as they did at this stage of the UEFA Conference League a year ago, they lost in an away match in France.

In what is their sixth continental quarter-final, Villa maintain the fact that they have never won an away match in this round of a UEFA club competition season. They lost five of those six games, with the exception being the 1981/82 campaign, where they went all the way in the European Cup.

Barcelona 4-0 Borussia Dortmund

16 - Barcelona left no stone unturned in a 4-0 beating of Borussia Dortmund. That result leaves the Catalans with one foot in the semi-finals, a round they have not reached since 2018/19. Like PSG, they have been scoring for fun, as they have 36 goals in 11 matches.

Stretching back to last season, Barca have scored in their last 16 European games since Shakhtar Donetsk held them off the scoresheet on matchday five of the group stage nearly a year and a half ago.

21 - Borussia Dortmund's hopes of a second consecutive Champions League final look to have faded very quickly. It is looking unlikely that Die Schwarzgelben will qualify for the competition next season via their domestic league, so next week could be their last Champions League game for at least a year.

The loss was the heaviest Borussia Dortmund have suffered in a two-legged match in 21 years. That was also the scoreline when Sochaux defeated them in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup second round, in a 6-2 aggregate reverse for the Germans.
