Tim van Duijn from Voetbal International reported on Monday that the teams have agreed on a €5 million transfer fee for the 22-year-old defender whose contract runs out later this year. The fee could later rise to €6 million through add-ons.
Rensch and Ajax had agreed on a contract extension but further calculations from Ajax's side showed the deal couldn't go through due to tax reasons and the deal was definitely off.
Not wanting to leave Ajax without a transfer fee after joining their youth academy in 2016, Rensch opted for a winter transfer and was already left on the bench for Sunday's Eredivisie game away at Heerenveen (2-0 win).
Rensch's late cameo meant the full-back leaves Amsterdam with 156 senior appearances to his name. The right-back will not be available for the Europa League fixtures against Latvian RFS and Turkish Galatasaray, according to Van Duijn.
Roma already showed interest in the summer of 2024 but couldn't land the one-time Dutch international.
