Excelsior - FC Utrecht: 1-2
FC Utrecht finally claimed their first win of the season as Excelsior were beaten in injury time.
A quiet first half was brought to life by teenage sensation Artem Stepanov, who broke the deadlock on the cusp of half-time. More of the same followed in the second half until Feyenoord loanee Aymen Sliti put Excelsior on the board with 15 minutes left to possibly mount a comeback.
Just as everything seemed settled, Excelsior's defence shut down with Casper Widell simply giving Dani de Wit the ball out of a tackle, putting the Utrecht midfielder one-on-one with Stijn van Gassel. De Wit stayed calm and chipped Van Gassel to win Utrecht their first game in injury time.
Heerenveen - Telstar: 0-0
The first 0-0 of the Eredivisie season went down in Frisia, where Heerenveen were kept at bay by Telstar.
The hosts practically controlled the entire match and created the biggest chances via Ringo Meerveld, Dylan Vente, and Hristiyan Petrov, but Telstar held on for a crucial point in the relegation battle.
