Feyenoord have comfortably opened their Eredivisie season with a 2-0 win over NAC Breda as Robin van Persie changed his side around to save players for next week's Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce.

Three days after their 2-1 Champions League win over Fenerbahce, Feyenoord boss Robin van Persie changed his side in several places to give some key players some extra rest for next week's return.

Givairo Read returned to the starting line-up for Jordan Bos, Luciano Valente and Oussama Targhalline started in midfield over Hwang-In Beom and Quinten Timber, and Gaoussou Diarra started on the left wing instead of Leo Sauer.

NAC Breda opened their season with minimal changes. Newcomers Mo Nassoh and Juho Talvitie flanked striker Sidney van Hooijdonk on the front line as the only two new names in NAC's starting line-up.

Feyenoord's evening got off to a hot start when newly-named captain Sem Steijn, last season's Eredivisie top scorer, scored from a free-kick in the third minute.

NAc started on the back foot and found some space in the next thirty minutes, but had to be wary of another Feyenoord goal when Steijn and Luciano Valente got eerily close to adding a second for the Rotterdam side.

A 1-0 half-time lead was doubled by Feyenoord soon after the break. After NAC goalkeeper Danijel Bielica nearly saw Anis Hadj Moussa score following a sloppy pass, Japanese striker Ayase Ueda opened his account for the season with a steady finish in the bottom-right corner in the 50th minute.

Few big chances followed for Feyenoord, who took their foot off the throttle in the knowledge that an away game in Istanbul awaits next Tuesday.

Champions League return for Feyenoord

Feyenoord easily saw out the game and opened their Eredivisie season with a 2-0 win over NAC Breda, who host Fortuna Sittard next Sunday.

Feyenoord play the return of their UEFA Champions League third-round qualifier at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off set at 19.00 CET.
